If you’re as pumped as the K Book staff is for wintry and holiday activities, then you have probably already started looking for the best things to do here in LexVegas. There are tons of fun and exciting things to do in Lexington for the holiday season, and here is a list of some of our favorite ways to celebrate winter’s arrival in the Bluegrass!
1. Ice Skating in Triangle Park
Have you driven through downtown lately and wondered what all the hubbub is about in Triangle Park (right across the street from Victorian Square and the Hilton Hotel)? It’s one of Lexington’s most exciting wintry activities – ice skating! Every year around the beginning of November, an ice rink pops up in the middle of downtown to help us get into the holiday spirit. Bundle up, grab some friends, lace up your ice skates and take a few laps around the rink! Starting on Nov. 28, you can ice skate next to downtown Lexington’s Christmas tree.
Cost: $10

2. Visit Lexington Fire Station No. 20
If you are like a kid in a candy store when you see Christmas lights, then you can’t miss Fire Station No. 20’s infamous lights. The station is off Harrodsburg Road just past New Circle (3001 Arrowhead Dr.). Stop by, turn on your radio and watch the lights dance to the music. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to see some kids dancing in the station’s driveway too – could it get any better?

3. Take a Drive through the Bluegrass
If you love houses decked-out with Christmas lights, take a nighttime drive through some of Lexington’s neighborhoods to see the lights! Some families go above and beyond, spending what I can only imagine would be weeks setting up their lights and even choreographing them to music on special radio stations. So turn on some holiday music and take a drive through the beautiful bluegrass.
