It’s Valentine’s Day and that only means one thing around UK … it’s time for DanceBlue! That’s right, it’s time for students to stand up to cancer and dance the night away for 24 hours! Most UK students consider DanceBlue one of the best days of the year. Participating in this philanthropy is one of the most fulfilling and rewarding experiences on UK’s campus, and it’s not just a once a year event. Fundraising and mini DanceBlue marathons (often done at local schools) happen all year long. To all of our dancers out there, we want to wish you the best of luck –Know that this campus is cheering you on every step of the way! If you’re not dancing, that doesn’t mean you can’t participate in DanceBlue! Go on over to Memorial Coliseum and cheer on your friends and classmates as they don’t sit or sleep – it’s a magical place and event, and we encourage everyone to go experience it in some way.
DanceBlue is a 24-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping marathon! We don’t dance every minute, but we certainly don’t stop having fun. A twelve-minute line dance fills a lot of our time, and we all come together every hour on the hour to dance. I hear Taylor Swift might have a special appearance this year (in spirit). Every hour has a theme, such as zumba, rave, giving back to the community, BBN and meal times. Meal times are every four hours, so we certainly don’t go hungry. And since the Cats play during DanceBlue this year, we will be watching the game too.

If you won’t be able to stop by and cheer on your fellow Wildcats, that doesn’t mean you can’t help! You can always donate at danceblue.org/donate.
Other options for Valentine’s Day are spending time with your loved ones and/or cheering on the CATS at Rupp at 2 p.m. The Firecracker jumpropers are performing at halftime, so it will be a great show. Be sure to wear your Big Blue and cheer them on as they take on South Carolina! February 14th is a special day this year, and we wish you all well! FTK AND GO CATS!
